To keep up with the pace of social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, Google launched Google Plus way back in 2011. This may not be a rage like Facebook, but it did allow users to share posts and follow other people or things of interest.

One of its main draw-back was that if a user signed up for a G-mail account or a Google account he was automatically signed up for Google Plus. Users were forced into signing up for the social platform and this generated an artificially high user base.

Nevertheless, Google was trying to keep itself away from forcing users into signing up for Google Plus. Ever since Vic Gundotra left the company rumours started in April that Google's social network will slowly fade away. According to Android Headline the site that is the leading sources of Android news for the android community the Hangout service provided by Google does not need a user to sign up for Google Plus. A user who signs up for any of the Google services like G-mail, Google Docs, YouTube etc will not be asked to sign up for Google Plus. Of course the signup page will appear, but there will be a "No Thanks" link that will allow users to continue to their desired service.

Android Headlines also stated in their site that this move is not the evidence of the demise of Google's Social Network, but the sign of Google's Growth. This is to allow users to use Google services without having to become a forced user of Google Plus. Probably most users do not want to use the service, but are forced into it. Google may have made this mandatory to get users use the Google Plus platform. But now it seems that this need is not there as Google Plus is established and Google wants users to try out other services that will allow much wider audience to use them.
