What makes us think the latest but as yet unreleased iteration of the MacBook Air will be the most reliable laptop in 2016? Well, a new consumer survey has just revealed the 2015 MacBook Air was the most efficient laptop in the market.

The comprehensive survey conducted by Consumer Reports (CR) shows the 2015 MacBook Air laptop has the lowest crash rate among laptops surveyed. The 2015 MacBook Air is also the most dependable laptop in the market today.

Interestingly enough, the failure rate of the ultra-light Apple laptop was only seven percent. And it’s worth noting that Apple's high-end MacBook Pro had a failure rate of just nine percent. So, it stands to reason the MacBook Air 2016 will continue the tradition set by its predecessor.

On the other hand, the combined failure rate of the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air was placed at 10 percent in the first three years of ownership. The CR survey said this is the lowest failure rate among all original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) selling laptops.

The CR survey results also show that Windows-powered laptops have a considerably failure rate when compared to the Apple MacBook. Samsung laptops had a failure rate of 16 percent during the first three years. Other OEMS such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo and Toshiba had failure rates ranging from 18 percent to 19 percent.

The survey involved almost 60,000 U.S. consumers and spanned a period of five years. Respondents were asked about their experience with laptops over this time scale, including the failure rate of these machines.
