The whole of the Android world is excited about the release of the new Android version 5.0 Lollipop. When compared to the Android Kitkat, Android 5.0 Lollipop has so many minute as well as big changes. The differences are many, but here we will take a look at just a few.

Design

The Android Lollipop is an improvement from the earlier versions of Android and the most obvious one is in the visuals. The Lollipop looks both flat and 3D reflecting clean bold lines and colours. The interface brings out the depth even when it is at rest and appears flat. Every element in the design has had a change for the better from the previous version that includes the icons, fonts, interfaces and simple elements like the navigation button and notification bar.

Android 5.0 Lollipop Performance

Phones that will run on the Android L will have more RAM size when compared to the phones that run on Kitkat and other operating systems. This will make it run faster and efficiently without any lags. According to Google, Android Lollipop is more power efficient than any of the previous versions of Android. With this update phones running on previous versions that will be able to get more battery power than they did with Kitkat. Multi-tasking is also made easy with this update. Multiple apps can be opened at the same time next to each other.

Security

There are new security features in the Android L. There is a feature to set geographical safe zones where the device would not need a PIN to unlock. This same feature applies to all Bluetooth devices like the Android smart watches. The tablet or phone will detect this automatically and turn off security barriers.

Notifications can be seen without unlocking the phone and sensitive information can be hidden anywhere that it might appear. It has better protection against malware and it also includes data encryption that is switched on by default protecting user data.

There is also a feature called the Kill Switch that protects the device from theft. To reset the phone to factory settings, the device will ask for a password. This makes its safe from the device being stolen. This version of the Android also has a guest profile so that it becomes easier to share the phones content with others while having control over the users own personal stuff on the device.

Availability

There is not much information regarding the availability, except that the Android L update will be available for devices in late October and early November.

The Android Lollipop has many features to it and a lot of small improvements when compared with the Android Kitkat.
