It does not look like Ryan Murphy, co-creator of "American Horror Story," is going to keep his word and not make a dead character appear again. Twisty the Clown and Edward Mordrake are set to return in "Freak Show," the Season 4 of "American Horror Story."

In an interview given to Entertainment Weekly (EW) before the premiere of Season 4, Murphy said that "once you die, you're dead" in Season 4. He also ruled out the possibility of a supernatural thing bringing back a dead character to life. However, in his recent interview to EW, Murphy has said that Twisty and Mordrake are going to make "triumphant returns."

The spirit of Edward Modrake, the two-faced man who had committed suicide after killing the freaks, appeared in the two-part Halloween episode. Elsa Mars' rehearsal summoned his spirit. He heard the tragic life-stories of Ethel Darling, Legless Suzy, Paul, Elsa and Twisty and decided to take with him the soul of Twisty. However, these two characters are set to return.

Murphy said to EW that "... Twisty is not over, and neither is Edward Mordrake. They both make triumphant returns." The co-creator also said that people love Twisty and he gave the credit to John Carroll Lynch, the actor playing the role of Twisty. He thinks that Lynch is "mesmerising and sympathetic."

Lynch didn't want to be another killer clown but wanted his character to have a backstory and ideology, according to Murphy. "... I think that clown's backstory is so fascinating and bizarre," he said, adding, "I love him. I loved his performance. He will return."

Twisty told his story of origin to Mordrake in the last episode, "Edward Mordrake" Pt. 2. He revealed that he was a simple, lovable clown, a simpleton, who loved to entertain the kids. The little men of the carnival told him that there are whispers about him touching some children. They ruined his good clown reputation. He moved to Jupiter and tried to make children toys. The toy-shop owner, however, did not take a proper look at his toy but screamed at him. Later, Twisty put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. He abducted the kid so that he could entertain him and he killed the kid's parents because they were mean to him. Twisty said to Mordrake, "I didn't make them do any chores. I got a pretty babysitter." Mordrake found in him the purest of freaks and thus he killed him and took his soul with him.

It has not yet been revealed in which episode Twisty the Clown will make an appearance again.
