Aaron Carter has ended his relationship with fiancée Melanie Martin, just a week after they welcomed their first child together.

The 33-year-old singer-songwriter took to Twitter Tuesday to announce his breakup with Martin after nearly two years together, and days after the birth of their son Prince. In his announcement, he alluded to “a very big lie” that took place between Martin and Carter’s estranged twin sister, Angel.

“Due to personal reason[s], Melanie Martin and I have decided to go our separate ways. There has been a very big lie, and my sister communicating [with] my ex-fiancée ruined everything considering she knew what [A]ngel tried to do to me in court. [T]hanks [A]ngel, you ruined my family. God bless,” Carter wrote.

Moments before announcing the split, Carter called out his sister for talking to Martin behind his back. He also revealed that he has not spoken to Angel in almost three years because the latter obtained a restraining order against him.

After fans started asking the artist what was going on and what led to the breakup, Carter claimed in another tweet that his “most conniving, deceiving family” and his now-ex-fiancée have been “lying to me the whole time.” He did not reveal the specifics, but he admitted that he was shocked to find out that Martin has been communicating with his family, who allegedly tried to put him in prison and get a conservatorship for him.

“I can’t even shed a tear. I’m in utter shock. I’ve been lied to for two years. [M]y family won’t leave me alone. [T]hey try to ruin everything. [Now] I’m a single father. The worst part about it is she knew what they were doing to me and she lied to me for two years,” he claimed in a follow-up tweet.

Last week, the “I Want Candy” singer appeared to be over the moon when he announced the birth of his son with Martin on Instagram after 13 hours of labor and an emergency cesarean section. Carter even shared a photo of him cutting the umbilical cord while meeting his son, Prince, for the first time.

In the wake of the breakup, Carter claimed that Martin already told him that she would be moving to Las Vegas with their son and a friend. He went on to say that he was blindsided because Martin allegedly had this backup plan the entire time and told him he’ll never see his son ever again.

“I don’t have a family now. I was deceived and lied too [sic]. I can’t believe she betrayed [me] this way. I gave her the world. There’s more to the story then [sic] meets the eye. My heart hurts,” he wrote in another tweet.

When fans continued to question why Carter was not on good terms with his twin sister, the “House of Carters” alum claimed that Angel did the “unforgivable” when she told their older brother Nick, 41, that he was planning to kill his wife Lauren Kitt and “their unborn child.” Carter said the issue cost him $50,000 in court.

Martin declined to issue a statement when reached by People for comment. She has also deleted her social media accounts after Carter blasted her on Twitter.

Carter and Martin started dating in January 2020 but called it quits in March that year after an altercation in the singer’s home. They got back together in June 2020 and got engaged that same month, according to Page Six.
