How many times have you slept through your alarm clock? Even if the alarm already went off, there are times when you just feel like staying in bed for only a few minutes and then dozing off again and wake up late. Take a peek at these effective ways to avoid oversleeping.

  1. Put your alarm clock away from you

One of the most practical ways to fight oversleeping is by putting your alarm clock as far away from you as possible. Never put it on your bedside table or above the headboard where you can easily reach it. Try putting it across the bed so you have to stand up to turn it off. The movement can help wake you up and prevent you from drifting off to dreamland again.

  1. Have enough sleep

One of the main reasons we oversleep in the morning is because we didn’t have enough sleep during the night. Making up for lost hours isn’t the way to avoid oversleeping it will only make you feel worse afterward. Sleep early and you’re likely to wake up early too.

  1. Use creative alarms

If you’re already immune to the sound of your alarm clock then it’s time you use a more creative alarm. Another is to make use of your phone’s alarm by having your favourite dance song played every time it goes off.

  1. Look forward to waking up early

Sometimes you just need a little self motivation to wake up early. Think of something you can look forward to the next day such as jogging with your crush or having an early breakfast at a restaurant with your best friend. Whatever your reason may be, make sure it can really get you off the bed.

  1. Be consistent with your wake up routine

Waking up early is a habit you have to get used to. If you have to be at work by seven in the morning, you have to program your body to wake up as early as five o’clock to avoid being late. Once you get into this habit, your body clock adjusts to it and you automatically wake up at five even without your alarm. However, don’t break this habit or else you have to start all over again.

Oversleeping is one problem you can easily solve. Make use of the effective ways to avoid oversleeping mentioned above and you don’t have to stay in bed overtime.
