On August 11, Kim Walsh, a 38-year old Sydney woman got great news. She had become pregnant. And in two hours, she got another great news. She delivered her baby! Kim Walsh had just gone to her doctor's office with "cramps in her stomach," according to Mammamia.

Earlier, she had been told that her polycystic ovary syndrome was a hormonal condition that involved high levels of insulin or male hormones called 'androgens." It fuelled a number of symptoms such as obesity, irregular periods or none, acne, excess hair growth, diabetes risk and infertility. She would never be able to conceive children, she had been informed through her 15-year marriage. It broke her heart.

Yet, on August 11, she had stomach cramps, so she went on a 2 p.m. appointment with the doctors. She was shocked to hear that she was pregnant. She climbed back into the car and shocked her husband some more. By 4.30 p.m. they got their first baby. It gave them "sheer disbelief," as it was a miracle that Shelby had been born. Kim's mother, Gale, said that they had to get Kim admitted right away. She explained that though they have just two minutes to look her over, it spread a lot of anxiety and people coming up with questions, according to Sydney Morning Herald.

Kim's doctor, Charles McCusker, who was Fairfield hospital's head of obstetrics and gynaecology pointed out that it could have been a tragedy for them. Kim never imagined that she could be pregnant, for nine months. What would she have done if she had not visited the doctor for cramps, nor if the doctor had not done a pregnancy test? How would she have known of it?

When Kim arrived at the hospital she was 170 kilograms and her baby was going through fetal distress. The umbilical cord had clamped her neck. Dr McCusker detailed some problems of the birth, but admitted that Team Fairfield managed to keep together, and brought out the baby, which had been a great gift for the "most wonderful, genuine, people you could ever wish to meet." He gave a most un-doctorlike comment of it being a "cute baby," according to Mammamia.

Kim has written about the amazing birth on social media. She explains that it was "bittersweet" not knowing that she had been pregnant, and laments that she doesn't have an "ultrasound picture" of her baby. She cannot advise her daughter on her first pregnancy when she grows, she rues.

He supportive family and friends have given everything she needed for the first baby. On the social media, there has been a flood of nasty comments, but she wrote back that it was just "water off a duck's back" to her. "I don't care you think it's all "BS" and I am well aware that I am "fat" but your opinion is of no consequence to our life," she said.
