Microsoft Surface Book is back in stock for pre-orders but comes with a longer shipping time. Its top model with a storage capacity of 1 TB is the first laptop launched by Microsoft.

The top-of-the-line Surface Book with 16 GB of RAM is now available to pre-order from the official online Microsoft Store at an eye-popping price of $3,199 (AU$4,400). But buyers will have to wait till Jan. 22, 2016 for the device to ship. The more affordable models are expected ship within five to six weeks.

Last week, Microsoft said it managed to sell out its initial stock of Surface Book in the first five days after launching the device. The most expensive model of the Surface Book features an Intel Core i7 processor with a dedicated custom NVIDIA GPU for the ultimate experience in computing and graphics. The device sports a 13.5 inch display; has 3000 x 2000 resolution and is powered by the Windows 10 Pro operating system.

The Surface Book has a vast range of storage options: 126 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB along with 8 GB and 16 GB of RAM. The 512 GB storage option with Intel Core i7 is available at $2,699 (AU$2,886), which seems to a pretty good buy for an average user. The Surface Book will also be available at Microsoft’s brick-and-mortar retail stores and at select online retail partners such as Amazon and Best Buy.

The top-end 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro comes with at a cheaper price tag of $2,499 (AU$3,434), according to a report in Techno Buffalo. The top model features a 2.5 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB internal storage.

Even the 256 GB 15-inch MacBook Pro appears to a good bargain at $1,999 (AU$2,750). It’s got a 2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor and 16 GB RAM.
