With the upcoming debut of the new “Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS” comes a new set of card battle rules. This is done so that the battle will coincide with the new virtual reality (VR) arena that the series will be introducing.

“Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS” will bring new rules for the famous trading card game anime. First off is the new way to summon monsters during battle. According to the latest issue of Shonen Jump, the new system is called Link Summons.

Link Summons use Link monsters which are new sets of monsters that will be introduced to fans of the series. These new monsters have no defensive abilities. Furthermore, the link monsters have no defence points or even levels.

These new monsters will have Link Numbers. The Link Numbers will determine how many monsters must be sacrificed in order to summon it. Gamewise, players must send monsters to the graveyard in order to satisfy its link material. This will be the only way to bring one of these new monsters into the battlefield. For example, if a monster's Link Number is four, the chosen monster must take four face-up monsters as its sacrifice. Only then can the summon be completed and the Link Monster will be battle ready.

In addition to this new version of summoning, there will be essentially two new Extra Monster Card Zones. Any monster that is summoned from the Extra Deck must go in one of these zones. Each duelist gets one zone, and the zone is decided upon by the first person to summon a monster from the Extra Deck.

Apart from the new zones that will be introduced, there will be several new monsters that will be added in the upcoming anime card game series. These new monsters will be more famously known as “Cybers.” These Cybers will take part in battles and will play major parts of the Link Monsters. Game reviewer YGOrganization talks about these new features in a video shared by Comicbook.

“Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS” is the sixth upcoming anime in line with the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise. The new series will be officially making its debut this spring. The show will revolve around the new main character, Yusaku Fujiki, as he ventures into the new card game VR battles. The show will be aiming at a much younger audience base this time around. The show will teach the youth on how to pursue their dreams and embrace being different. The show is set to debut in Japan later this spring.
