Promotion for “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” is ongoing and it is being led by one its lead actors, Deepika Padukone. The actress has started the promotional tour in Mexico and has made a recent appearance at the Golden Globe Awards. Padukone has also teased fans by talking about her character in the upcoming film.

Padukone plays the role of Serena in “xXx: Return of Xander Cage.” The Bollywood actress has opened up about how every woman from all over the world can relate to her character.

In a video released by Paramount Pictures, the 31-year-old actress said Serena is a representation of women today. Padukone described her role as independent, intelligent and one that can stand up for herself. According to her, Serena is the type who would never stop observing and learning.

Padukone further shared that she thinks what draws her character to Xander (Vin Diesel) is the fact that he sees himself in her. “You realise how similar they are to each other and then you see how they work together as a team. Slowly you discover that she is there for a much larger mission,” the actress said.

Padukone is a Danish-born Indian model and actress. She started her career in Bollywood films in 2009 for the movie, “Chandni Chowk to China.” She also starred in “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” (2013), “Chennai Express” (2013), “Happy New Year” (2014) and “Bajirao Mastani” (2015). “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” serves as Padukone's debut film in Hollywood.

Meanwhile, Diesel has nothing but kind words for Padukone. The “Fast and the Furious” star has shared that it feels wonderful to work with the actress.

“The first time we met we were doing a test for Furious 7… but when we did do the test, the whole room was buzzing with the electric chemistry that we had. So we knew that sooner or later we would have to get together,” Diesel shared in a clip from Paramount Pictures.

The film is under the direction of DJ Caruso. It is produced by Diesel himself, along with Joe Roth, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Samantha Vincent. “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” is slated to hit Australian theatres on Jan. 19.
