Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 2 phablet is expected to play a key role in Xiaomi’s aim of selling 80 million devices this year.

The 5.5-inch Redmi Note 2 phablet, which is expected to retail at around US$210, can definitely help in boosting sales throughout Asia. The device was first launched in August but hasn’t been making waves since.

The Redmi Note 2 is still a solid device but isn’t as powerful as its competitors, as CNET pointed out. It’s worth noting there are other factors that might entice potential clients to choose the Redmi Note 2 over the rest.

The phablet falls in the company's budget devices category but still packs strong specifications that can steer consumers towards its direction. That said, the device is the best choice for consumers looking for an efficient handset that doesn’t kill their wallets.

On November 11, the device will be shipped to Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. Unfortunately, Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed any release dates for the phablet in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Xiaomi's Redmi Note 2 is actually the successor to the company's previous phablet, the Redmi Note. It boasts of a 5.5-inch full HD display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of onboard storage space, which can be expanded with the use of MicroSD card. It also has a 13 megapixel primary camera and a 5 megapixel front-facing selfie taker.

The phablet will be powered by a 64-bit Helio X10 octa-core processor from Mediatek. Moreover, it will feature 4G LTE connectivity. Another feature that could help make the device stand out is its removable 3,060 mAh battery.

Xiaomi's 80 million target, which was originally set at 100 million, will still be difficult to attain especially since sales cleared 35 million units as of July. This number can still increase, though, especially with Singles Day -- China's Black Friday equivalent -- coming soon.

CNET has also added that Xiaomi will have an even wider market this time around after it establishes its spot in the African tech market.
