The Nokia Lumia 830 has recently been unveiled, whereas the Xiaomi Redmi 1S was originally released in May, specific to China. However now, the handset is available in many markets globally. Readers who are interested in the budget-friendly Xiaomi Redmi 1S or the mid-range Nokia Lumia 830 should check out this specification, features and price comparison. It is worth noting that the Xiaomi device is not an underdog when it comes to housing killer specifications. Furthermore, the handset is priced insanely cheaper when compared to Lumia 830.

Display, Exterior And Size

The Xiaomi Redmi 1S features a 4.7-inch IPS LCD display packed with a screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. Meanwhile, the Nokia Lumia 830 comes with a relatively bigger 5.0-inch IPS LCD display but the resolution is same as the Xiaomi device. The pixel densities of Xiaomi and Nokia handsets stand at 312 ppi and 294 ppi respectively.

When it comes to design, the Redmi 1S smartphone comes with a plastic back with slightly shiny outlook. Even so, the front and the back panels have the tendency to accumulate fingerprints and smudge. Tech2 says, the plastic material used in the Xiaomi Redmi 1S is relatively better looking when compared to many other inexpensive smartphones in the market. The Nokia Lumia 830, meanwhile, follows the same design philosophy seen in other Lumia devices. However, the form factor stands out with sturdy metal frame surrounding the sides of the polycarbonate device granting a sleek, rock-solid outer look. Furthermore, the corners of the handset look almost flat, but in reality it is slightly curved. Also, the latest Lumia handset provides good grip on the matte-effect laden back, writes TOI.

Hardware, Software And Memory

Interestingly, both the handsets are powered by the same quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Cortex-A7 processor and 1 GB of RAM. Nevertheless, the processors of Nokia and Xiaomi smartphones are clocked at 1.2 GHz and 1.6 GHz respectively. Moreover, the Redmi 1S runs on Android OS v4.3 Jelly Bean with MIUI v5, whereas the Nokia Lumia 830 runs on Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.1.

As far as the memory goes, the Lumia 830 handset comes equipped with 16 GB of internal storage, whereas the Xiaomi Redmi 1S settles for 8 GB. In addition, both the smartphones support microSD card. However, the expansion limits of Xiaomi and Nokia smartphones stand at 32 GB and 128 GB respectively.

Camera And Battery

The Lumia 830 houses a solid 10 MP PureView primary camera unit complemented by the well-known Carl Zeiss optics, OIS and LED flash support. Whereas the Xiaomi Redmi 1S sports a good 8 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash. In addition, the Nokia handset features a 0.9 MP shooter as the secondary unit, whereas the Redmi 1S sports a 1.6 MP snapper. Furthermore, the Redmi 1S is backed by a Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery, whereas the Lumia 830 comes with a relatively better Li-Ion 2200 mAh battery unit.
