The Xiaomi Mi 5s and Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus were both announced on Sept. 27 and the devices are expected to hit the shelves in October. Both the devices from Xiaomi are available on pre-orders. However, choosing one out of the two, it is important to know the specs and what differentiates one from the other.

In terms of features, the handsets are pretty similar though the dimensions and weight are a bit different. The Xiaomi Mi 5s has a dimension of 145.6 x 70.3 x 8.3 mm and weighs 145 grams whereas the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus has dimensions of 154.6 x 77.7 x 8 mm and weighs 168 grams, reports GSMArena.

The two are different in terms of screen size with the Mi 5s having a 5.15-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. The Mi 5s Plus has a 5.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with same pixel resolution. Both have MIUI protection though Mi 5s has a 3D Touch display for the 128GB internal storage/4GB RAM variant.

Both Xiaomi Mi 5s and 5s Plus run on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and Adreno 530 graphics chipset. Both do not support microSD card and come in two variants.

The Xiaomi Mi 5s 64GB variant has a 3GB RAM and the 128GB variant has a 4GB RAM. The Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus has a 4GB RAM for the 64GB variant and 6GB RAM for the 128GB variant. Camera specs are totally same with both sporting 12MP primary and 4MP secondary cameras.

The Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus primary camera has phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash whereas the secondary camera supports 1080p video recording. Other camera features include geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama, auto-HDR.

The Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus sensors include Fingerprint, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass and barometer. Quick Charge 3.0 is available in both versions. There is a difference in battery capacity though. The Mi 5s has a 3,200 mAh battery while the Mi 5s Plus has a 3,800 mAh battery. Both come in four colour options, Silver, Gray, Gold and Rose Gold.

According to The Bitbag, the Xiaomi Mi 5s 64GB and 128GB models ¥1,999 (AU$390) and ¥2,299 (AU$450). The Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus storage variants are priced at ¥2,299 (AU$450) and ¥2,599 (AU$512).
