The Xiaomi Mi 5 was unveiled yesterday at the Mobile World Congress 2016. The AnTuTu benchmark scores of Xiaomi Mi 5 are better than that of the newly announced LG G5 and Samsun Galaxy S7 smartphones.

At the launch event, Hugo Barra, the VP of the company had boasted about the fast performance of the Xiaomi Mi 5. He revealed that the Xiaomi Mi 5 had scored 142,084 on AnTuTu version 6.0.4. The Xiaomi Mi 5 like most other flagships of this year such as Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG is packed with the most powerful Snapdragon 820 chipset.

On AnTuTu, the LG G5 has recorded a score of 133,054 which is better than that of Galaxy S7 that scored 116,668. The Samsung Galaxy S7 comes in two chipset variants of Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890. The 116,668 score was recorded by the Exynos 8890 variant of the Galaxy S7.

One of the reasons why the Xiaomi Mi 5 has scored such a high score on AnTuTu benchmarks is that it is packed with a 5.15-inch screen that supports full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels whereas its rivals support Quad HD resolution displays. The LG G5 comes with a 5.3-inch IPS LCD screen that supports Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The Samsung Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED also supports 2560 x 1440 pixels’ resolution, Android Headlines reported.

These are preliminary benchmark scores provided by the respective companies. Hence, elaborate tests that will be carried out later by tech experts and users will reveal their actual performance prowess.

The quad-core Snapdragon 820 chipset of the Xiaomi Mi 5 clocks at 2.15 GHz and it is supported by 4 GB of RAM. It is preloaded with Android 6.0 and MIUI 7 software. It features a 16-megapixel OIS enabled rear camera and a selfie snapper of 8-megapixel. It is equipped with a 3000 mAh battery.
