August will see even better, hi-res gaming on the Xbox One with the latest system update. This is will complement the recently introduced integration between the Xbox One and Windows 10.

Gamers appear to be the top-of-mind audience with the introduction of the Windows 10. When the launch took place last July, some of the anticipated features, including game DVR, screenshots and achievements made their way to the Windows 10. This time, Microsoft has unveiled via the Xbox Wire some other features that will debut with the Xbox One August System Update.

The hi-res game streaming will allow 1080p/60FPS quality streaming when matched with the appropriate home network bandwidth. A new setting for Notifications will also arrive, that will allow players to enable and disable notifications in a multiplayer game or party.

Players will also get a chance to know when their friends have played a particular game via a new animated display for Recently Played. The display will show up to four of the most recent players, as well as the information on the last date played, the Gamerscore and the percentage of completed Achievements. In addition to this, there is an easier way to access and compare Achievements with Friends and fellow players via the Game Hub page.

Other new features coming with the Xbox One August System Update include the grid view and jump list for My Games for better sorting and searching for games. There’s also the ability to manually add games straight to the collection via the MyGames tab in the Start menu.

On top of the new system update, Microsoft is also updating the Xbox app for the Windows 10. According to the update, this will provide fixes for some issues on game streaming, signing in and localisation. The update will be automatic once it rolls out in the Windows Store.

Now out this week are the new titles that are included in the Summer Spotlight for the Xbox One, as announced via Major Nelson’s Blog. For this batch of games, it’s a mix of zombies, high-speed action and Olympian MOBA experience.
