Olivia Munn was recently announced as the new cast member for “X-Men: Apocalypse.” The actress has landed the role of Psylocke, and she said her fans had made that role possible for her.

Olive Munn took to her Twitter page on Tuesday, April 14, to thank all her fans for their continuous support. Hours after Bryan Singer announced on his Instagram page that the actress landed the role of Psylocke in “X-Men: Apocalypse,” Olivia tweeted she wouldn’t have made it through various films if not for her dedicated fans whom she called as “OMFG.”

Her post has since received 1, 659 favorites and 668 retweets with users congratulating the actress on her role. Some also commented on how she perfectly fits the role of Psylocke in “X-Men: Apocalypse.”

Bryan Singer announced Olivia Munn’s casting in “X-Men: Apocalypse” through his Instagram page on Tuesday, April 14. The movie director shared a photo of the actress and captioned it: “Excited to welcome @oliviamunn as Betsy Braddock! “ He also added the hashtags “#Psylocke #XmenApocalypse #XMEN.” His post has since received 5, 729 likes with users commenting on Olivia Munn being the perfect choice for Psylocke.

Olivia Munn joins a long list of new characters in “X-Men: Apocalypse” including the younger versions of Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Cyclops (Tye Sheridan). She will also be starring opposite returning cast members James McAvoy (young Professor Xavier), Michael Fassbender (young Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult), among others.

According to Comicbookmovie, this would be the second time “The Newsroom” actress has landed a role in a comic book movie genre. She previously played a small part in the 2010 “Iron Man 2.” Cinema Blend added that her best role to date would have been in “Magic Mike,” although she has also starred in previous films including “Date Night and “The Babymakers.” However, playing as Psylocke in “X-Men: Apocalypse” is said to be her first high-profile role.

In the Marvel comics, the mutant Psylocke is known for her telekinetic powers. Her powers is said to be similar with that of Jean Grey’s although she’s dubbed as the master of telekinesis and telepathy. The character has reportedly undergone various physical transformations and eventually acquired the body of a female ninja. It would be interesting to find out how Olivia Munn will portray her character in “X-Men: Apocalypse” depending on Bryan Singer’s approach on the character.
