Production on ‘X-Men: Apocalypse” has been busy as of late with casting, having recently added Lana Condor for the role of Jubilee. Now if the recent reports are confirmed, it seems the sequel may soon include another mutant character, as Ben Hardy is rumoured to play Angel.

Bryan Singer recently teased fans on the possible appearance of Angel in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” The director took to his Instagram page on Monday to share a photo featuring a winged man trapped inside a bird cage. Singer captioned the image, “Some production art. #XMEN #XmenApocalypse.” The photo has since received 5, 550 likes with users commenting on the image teasing Angel’s involvement in the sequel and with Ben Hardy possibly playing the character.

Ben Hardy is rumoured to play the role of young Angel in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” The “Eastenders” star was reportedly already cast in the sequel back in February. The Wrap initially announced the actor’s involvement in the film and claimed Hardy was added for a "key, as-yet-undisclosed role.” However, his character’s name has yet to be revealed. So far he’s the only cast member without a role attached to his name yet.

Bryan Singer didn’t provide any further details to describe the photo, but according to Screen Rant, it’s the director’s way of confirming Angel’s appearance in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” The site further explained the details presented in the photo, including the presence of the lady vendor selling food to the crowd seen at the bottom left of the image. The latter supposedly hinted the setting being in a circus or a show. However, the setting reportedly doesn’t match the film’s reported timeline.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” is set in the 1980s and the scene depicted in Bryan Singer’s photo supposedly suggests that mutants could already be in danger during this era. The events following “Days of Future Past,” when the mutants’ powers were publicly displayed after Magneto dropped a stadium around the White House, may have reportedly led to the mutants being threatened in “Apocalypse.”

Whether this scene depicted in Bryan Singer’s photo will be played out in “X-Men: Apocalypse” remains unknown. Likewise, it’s still uncertain if Ben Hardy will be playing the role of Angel in the sequel. Sources told The Wrap that the actor was cast to play “another important role that is being kept under wraps.”
