Season 7 of the “X-Factor” Australia has added James Blunt as their new judge. As to what the singer can contribute to the show, James said he will be blunt with his opinions of the contestants, but in a kind way.

According to Womans Day, the “You’re Beautiful” singer got candid with his response about his involvement on “X-Factor Australia” during an on-camera chat. Apparently, there will be less flowery words or subtle remarks from the singer as he said he will be blunt with his opinions of the contestants.

You may know me as the singer of rather effeminate songs with a high-pitched, squeaky voice but judges, be ready, I'll be cutthroat,” he said.

James will live up to his tagline as show judge on “X-Factor Australia,” which is reportedly “blunt by name, blunt by nature.”

“I hope to be honest with people; if they are good, I'll say so, if they are bad, I'll say so, but hopefully with a little bit of kindness," Blunt said, according to the Womans Day report.

True to his words, the British crooner told a rapper duo exactly what he thinks of their performance. Jelal Edmonds, who goes by the name of Lazy J, and Panapa Iafeta, who is known as Big Guy, tried their luck on the show again after being eliminated in both 2010 and 2011. However, James was tough to impress as he told the duo, as seen in the video below, that he “didn’t enjoy” their performance.

According to The Guardian, even Edmonds' near brush with death in 2012 from a knife attack didn’t earn him any sympathy from Blunt. He was reportedly the only “X-Factor Australia” judge who rejected the rapper duo.

“I will say, if this is the third time you’ve been on The X Factor and you’ve choked on the third time, then the answer has to be stop coming here. It has to be a no,” Blunt told the rapper duo, according to The Guardian report.

However, Blunt had a different reaction when he heard a trio of male contestants singing an acapella version of Taylor Swift’s “Style.” Impressed by their performance, James told them in the video below, “I am totally fangirling over you guys right now.”
