It has been a month since “X Factor Australia” wrapped its latest season, and one of the judges just came clean why she loved her job.

Melanie Brown or Mel B, who mentored this year’s Underdog acts, admitted that she loves doing talent shows. The 41-year-old former member of the 90s hit girl group Spice girls helped “X Factor Australia” contestant Vlado Saric land in third place at the grand finals. His equally young rival Isaiah Firebrace was crowned the winner.

According to Mel, talent shows such as “X Factor Australia” produce new stars, but there’s one more advantage: she can laugh at delusional ones. “You get to watch a star being born,” she told The Guardian during an interview. “You get to laugh your pants off at people who are delusional. You get to be part of a rollercoaster ride with somebody’s life. It’s great.”

Mel, who joined the judges’ panel with Adam Lambert, Guy Sebastian and Iggy Azalea, admitted that as a judge, she just acts as herself. “I’m just very opinionated. I react to whatever I see. If it’s good, it’s good. If it’s bad, it’s bad. I don’t mince my words. Hopefully I’m somewhat encouraging in the midst of it all.”

Even after the competition, Mel seemed to keep her close relationship with Vlado. Recently, he posted a selfie with her while on a boat. Mel is seen grinning widely as she looks at her phone, while Vlado has his head back and his tongue’s sticking out.

In the interview with The Guardian, Mel was also asked about the much-talked about Spice Girls 20th anniversary reunion. However, she kept mum, saying “ I can’t tell you anything ’cos nothing’s been set up yet.” She revealed that things are still up for discussion. “Until we’ve actually got together and got a foundation of what we’re doing, there’s nothing much to say about it really,” she added.
