The World’s Best 50 Restaurants which is sponsored by S. Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, has unveiled some of the restaurants that made it in its prestigious list for 2015 including the Aussie restaurants Quay, Brae and Sepia. The said list which really includes 100 restaurants was partially revealed. The ones that made it to the bottom half of the list (numbers 51-100) were unveiled first. The rest of the list will be announced on Monday, June 1, 2015 in London.

The official website of the World’s Best 50 Restaurants states that Quay Restaurant, which is located on the Upper Level of the Overseas Passenger Terminal 5 on Hickson Road in Sydney’s The Rocks, is the Top 58 restaurant in the world for the year 2015.

Quay, which is headed by Chef Peter Gilmore, offers Modern Australian cuisine. It has received numerous awards including Restaurant of the Year in 2008 (Restaurant & Catering 2008 National Awards for Excellence), 2009 (Australian Gourmet Traveller 2009 Restaurant Guide) and 2010 (The Sydney Morning Herald 2010 Good Food Guide). It has also been a part of the S. Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants for multiple years including in 2009, (Top 46) 2010 (Top 27), 2011 (Top 26), 2012 (Top 29), 2013 (Top 48) and 2014 (Top 60).

As for Brae and Sepia, these establishments are newcomers on the best restaurants of the world list. Sepia is Top 84 while Brae is Top 87. Sepia is located on 201 Sussex Street in Sydney’s Darling Park precinct. It offers cuisine that is inspired by the Japanese. It is the result of the collaborative efforts of Chef Martin Benn and De Costi Seafoods’ George Costi. It is owned by Benn and his wife Vicki Wild.

Wild spoke to news.com.au about Sepia’s inclusion in S. Pellegrino’s World’s Best 50 Restaurants 2015 List.

“We are just so very proud of what we have achieved and recognition like this just makes us want to continue to evolve and push forward,” Wild said in the news.com.au report.

Brae is located on 4285 Cape Otway Road in Birregurra, Victoria. The restaurant’s literally means hillside or a gentle slope. It is headed by Chef Dan Hunter and it offers local meat and housegrown produce.

Meanwhile, Attica Restaurant which is located on 74 Glen Eira Road in Ripponlea, Victoria, is expected to appear on the other half of the World’s Best 50 Restaurants 2015 List. It was the Top 32 restaurant in 2014.

S. Pellegrino and Acqua Panna’s prestigious list of the best restaurants in the world is compiled by 972 experts including food journalists, restaurateurs and chefs. The other restaurants that made the list are Denmark’s Geranium (Top 51), London’s Hedone (Top 60) and Manresa in Los Gatos, U.S. (Top 100).
