Microsoft has been delaying the rolling out the Windows 10 Mobile OS update to users, but a Microsoft Mexico executive has reportedly revealed the release date of the software upgrade.

According to WM Power User, Microsoft Mexico posted on the Microsoft Lumia Facebook page that the company would begin the release of the Windows 10 Mobile OS update from Feb. 29. It is expected to be a worldwide launch. However, the update would only be available to certain devices from the said date.

The Redmond giant had announced in mid-2015 that it wouldl be releasing the Windows 10 Mobile OS upgrade for eligible devices by December. However, the arrival of the update was postponed to the start of this year but it did not happen.

Although the company is now expected to release the update this month, Microsoft has not confirmed the software update release date revealed by Microsoft Mexico. No official statement on the official roll out has been made.

As of this writing, the Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, Lumia 550 and the newly released Lumia 650 smartphones are available with Windows 10 Mobile OS preinstalled. Owners of other Lumia devices are also running on preview builds of the Windows 10 Mobile.

Microsoft is also expected to introduce newer features to Windows 10 Mobile devices through Redstone updates. These will be made available to users in two phases, RS1 (Redstone 1) and RS 2 (Redstone 2). The former is expected to be available in June whereas the latter will be available by the end of the year.

The Redstone updates will bring newer features like landscape mode in Homescreen, an improved action center, better user experience for apps on multiple devices running on Windows 10, smarter Cortana app, enhanced customisation options and major improvements to native apps like Office 365 and One Drive. Nokia Power User also reported that touch-screen monitor and Quad HD resolution support will arrive for Continuum for phones through the upcoming Redstone update.
