Alternatively, users can try the video calling feature before its official release by installing the beta edition of WhatsApp. To install it, users are needed to have a jailbroken iOS device along with Cydia installed.

As of this writing, the screenshots only indicate that the video calling will be coming to WhatsApp for iOS. However, the rumour mill is claiming that it will be soon introduced to Android users.

WhatsApp is also expected to launch native apps for desktop PCs in the near future. Currently, the only way desktop PC users can access WhatsApp is going to web.whatsapp.com on a web browser. It requires users to pair their smartphone with PC to use web browser edition of WhatsApp. However, leaked images revealed by @WABetaInfo show dedicated buttons for “Download for Windows” and “Download for Mac OS X.”

This indicates that native apps for these operating systems are likely to be made available soon. Rumours also indicate that WhatsApp will be introducing several new features such as call back, voice mail and zip file sharing.
