Disney starlet Miley Cyrus was visibly frightened when a teen Aussie fan rushed on stage while she was performing during her concert in Melbourne.

Watching the video from YouTube, it appeared that the singer-actress was performing her hitsong “The Climb” when the overeager fan snuck from behind on stage and put her arms on the singer’s shoulders.

The stunned singer and star of the Last Song with off-screen Aussie boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth was seen sprinting from the fan and was heard exclaiming “Oh my god!” on stage while she was being escorted by her security personnel.

Citing a report by TMZ, NineMSN noted the incident took place as Miley was in the middle of her song at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne Friday.

Meanwhile the incident has sparked debates whether or not running from the adoring fan was appropriate.

Most expressed dismay over the manner by which the singer’s security personnel handled her ‘intruder’, claiming that Cyrus was not the American president to be scared of assassination.

A fan said, “MILEY IS NOT THE PRESIDENT. Have you ever heard of a musician being assassinated because a fan came on stage? No. They made a big deal out of nothing. Fans have run on stage for other singers before and did not react this way.”

Others however, understood why Miley and her detailed security personnel had to take the necessary action when the fan grabbed her on the shoulder.

“The fear here is that fans will rush the stage at the end. It is a time of high security. Ignoring people who jump onstage does not discourage the behavior the way Miley discouraged it here by effectively stopping the performance. It was the end of the show you must remember. You don't want a frenzy reaction. There are too many organized flash mobs nowadays too. Miley is not the President, but thousands of lives are in her hands here,” another viewer said.

Cyrus is in Melbourne for her “My Gypsy Heart Tour”. News.Com.Au noted that before the incident, Miley is reportedly having a great time during her trip Down Under with bf, Liam. The on-and-off again celebrity couple was seen spotted having a passionate embrace while shopping in Sydney days before the concert. Joining Miley while in Australia is her mother, Tish.
