Everyone’s favourite zombie apocalypse TV series is close to ending its seventh season, and things are expectedly about to get extreme. Every character that was initially hesitant to fight off Negan has had enough and now wants the Saviours leader gone.

Rick has snapped out of it along with Michonne. Both delivered their promise to Jadis, who’s now willing to combat the Sanctuary people alongside her junkyard crew. Ezekiel and Carol are in on it, too. And Morgan has also bought his ticket for the upcoming all-out war.

“The Walking Dead” season 7 episode 15 is the last instalment before the finale, and fans are holding their collective breaths as the end draws near. Showrunner Scott M. Gimple is just as pumped up, as he describes the final episodes using a term that is overflowing with energy.

“We step on the gas and we do not let our foot off the gas until the end of episode 16,” he tells EW. “Although because I’m working on season 8 now, the foot is on the gas again! I mean, the [remaining] episodes we’re going to shoot you through a lot of big events and things become quantum intense.”

Now that’s one way get fans hyped up. Gimple adds that the showrunners are throwing everything on the season finale, including the kitchen sink. He also hints on a different close to season 7 compared to last season’s polarising cliff-hanger, but it’s still going to be “exciting” and “very emotional.”

“I believe it’s funny in a couple parts, and it builds and builds and builds and it explodes,” says Gimple. “And though it promises more — because there is a whole lot to get to — there is an ending. It really is just a huge episode inasmuch as it has all of the flavours of this season. It is taking your cup and going down each soda jet and taking a little from each one and then throwing in some hot sauce, a little bit of lime, and then maybe a tiny bit of tequila as well.”

“The Walking Dead” season 7 episode 15 airs on Sunday, March 26 in the US. Australian fans get to watch “Something They Need” on Monday, March 27.
