The first half of “The Walking Dead” Season 6 is like a prequel to what happens in the second half. Showrunner Scott M. Gimple revealed that the second half of the upcoming season has “direct comic stuff.”

Entertainment Weekly talked to “The Walking Dead” showrunner Scott M. Gimple about Season 6. He teased that the second of the season will have direct references from the comic book. “I think there’s a really cool aspect to the first half of the season that serves almost as a prequel to some direct comic stuff in the second half of the season,” Gimple said.

He added that they have done some of the backstories in a different way compared to “The Walking Dead” comic book. During the interview, Gimple also talked about new faces joining “The Walking Dead” Season 6.

“Corey Hawkins is playing him, and he’s terrific and I’m so excited to see him bring Heath to life,” Gimple stated. The showrunner added that Hawkins is sceptical and tough, however after the camera starts rolling, he becomes a different person. Hawkins is excited to be a part of the project, according to Gimple.

Also, he mentioned that fans will get to see more new characters from the comics in “The Walking Dead” Season 6 episodes. However, he did not reveal any information about the characters that fans can expect to see.

Gimple also talked about how Season 5 finale episode will impact Rick and Morgan’s chemistry in Season 6 of the show. Rick Grimes gunned down Pete in front of Morgan and for Morgan – “All life is precious.” He stated that there will be a little bit of conflict between these two characters.
