Country Music artist Blake Shelton has responded to Brad Paisley’s joke about his divorce with Miranda Lambert during the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards. The artist earlier said he knew it’s “coming.”

Shelton took to Twitter on Thursday and replied to Paisley’s tweet: “Thanks for being a great sport @Blakeshelton. Love ya bro.”

CMA awards hosts Paisley and Carrie Underwood pointed the massive artist breakups in Hollywood. Paisley, 43 decided to tease Miss Piggy and Kermit before shifting the crowd’s attention to Shelton. “On a completely unrelated topic, howdy, Blake!” he said.

Shelton was reportedly seen laughing when Paisley dropped the joke.

In an interview with Late Night in October, the 39-year-old singer told Seth Meyers how he predicted CMA Awards would feel like, given that Lambert would be at the same event.

"This year's gonna be awkward at the CMAs, speaking of jokes… Everybody there is friends. There's gotta be one about me and Miranda. [Host] Brad Paisley is not doing his job if he doesn't look down there and go 'Ha ha!' You have to address the elephant in the room,” the singer was quoted by E! News.

Shelton added that he and Paisley have “had the conversations like, 'OK, dude. I'll sit there and let you kick me in the face a few times.' I know it's coming.”

Shelton and Lambert, who had been at the CMAs together since 2007, announced their split in a joint statement in July. The two artists also confirmed that the divorce papers have already been finalized and asked for privacy from the media.

Meanwhile, Shelton was spotted holding hands with his fellow “The Voice” coach Gwen Stefani after the night’s event. There were rumours earlier that Shelton and Stefani, who also divorced her longtime partner Gavin Rossdale in August, have been dating each other.

Wes Vause, representative of Shelton, confirmed that the two stars are now a couple after seeing each other for weeks. Both Shelton and Stefani have appeared together on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” along with Pharrell Williams and Adam Lambert.
