Vladimir Putin prepares for Suvorov Attack, warns the West

Russian President Vladimir Putin prepares his military forces, gigantic infantry and tank exercises, serving as a warning shot at the West. The show of military force is part of the army’s efforts to nail the Suvorov Attack army competition, the Russian Pacific Fleet’s naval infantry unit exercises.

The competition will be joined by five countries: Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela and Kazakhstan. It is scheduled to take place in the middle of the year. The Russian naval infantry's show of fighting prowess may serve as a warning to Britain as tensions are on the rise from both sides.

During the drills, troops fired AK47s and launch rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs). Soldiers endured the cold as they dash it with heavy-duty ammunition.

In December last year, the US and the UK held a live fire exercise in Poland in preparing troops for war against Russia. General Ben Hodges, top US Army commander based in Europe, led the exercise. Hodges explained that Russian aggression comes in several forms.

“Russian aggression takes many forms: Cyber, misinformation, threatening other countries, Russian snap exercises,” he said. Hodges hopes that the message will be clear to the Moscow Kremlin, an organisation that is allegedly financially backing anti-fracking groups in the United States. Moscow Kremlin has also been linked to cyber attacks across Europe and America.

British defence secretary Michael Fallon is confident that the country will be able to protect itself and its people by carrying out cyber attacks against Russia. Fallon said the United Kingdom should now compete on the cyber battlefield as much as they do in conventional air, land and sea warfare. The defence secretary believes that the Kremlin has created a post-truth age by “weaponising misinformation.”

He said Russia was obviously “testing” the West to weaken the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a military alliance between the US and some European countries in need of defence. “Today we see a country that in weaponising misinformation has created what we might now see as the post-truth age,” he said.

The Sun reported that majority of the soldiers are dressed with winter camouflage for the war games in Russia’s frozen far-east. The location is close to the border with North Korea.

Earlier this year, 3,500 troops from the United States have arrived in Poland. They carried tanks and heavy equipment. The event is considered as one of the biggest deployments of US forces in Europe since the Cold War.
