It is just a few hours to the May 7 deadline for all bids for the virginity of 28-year-old medical student who goes by the alias Elizabeth Raine. Followers of the story would surely want to know who would be the lucky and rich chap who would get to have sex with her on a 12-hour date in Australia.

However, a commenter on Raine's Web site titled Musings of a Virgin Whore raised the question what if the winning bidder turns out to be a female, would the virgin still be willing to have lesbian sex with her?

Another male reader, however, has pointed out that Raine has specified she would want to experience a male genital enter her, not a contraption such as a dildo that a lesbian would use on her, thus basically ruling out that Raine would agree to sex with another woman.

The very public way that Raine is selling her purity, despite using an alias, has elicited both negative comments from netizens about what the future doctor is doing to her personal life and future career.

Some criticise her for selling her body, while others laud the virgin for not being bound by societal norms in getting what she believes is right for her.

Although Raine is not the first woman to auction her virginity on the Web, being an educated woman with two university degrees and still pursuing a medical degree, in a way, sets her apart from the mostly teenage auctioneers of their purity who are purely for fame and/or money.

Interestingly, Raine has inspired some virgins in her age group to follow her footsteps. One woman who used the alias Joining the club wrote, "As a 31 year old virgin I am ready to move to the next big experience in my life. Those desires and everlasting values of waiting until I get married may never come ... everything in this world has a price. Be on the lookout for another woman's unveiling."

However, Plexico, a commenter, warned that not all virgins are created equal. Raine clicked because she has presented proof that she is a bombshell and a pretty face. Plexico pointed out that many older virgins may be turn offs instead of being turn ons.

Raine has stressed that the 12-hour date would not lead into a romantic relationship. In her earlier post on April 12, she replied to a question will there ever be a man who would take her seriously and marry her after the auction?

Her reply was short quip - "Who cares?"

She then added that she is not a marriage freak, but continued that not all males have the same perspective or criteria when seeking a wife. She said, "Put simply, any man who cannot manage to get past this is not a man for me."
