Did Elizabeth Raine, the alias of a pretty 28-year-old medical student who caused furor on the Internet by auctioning her virginity to the highest bidder, had second thoughts about her decision not to push through with the 12-hour date with sex and instead concentrate of her medical studies?

That was the impression created on Friday morning when her Thursday post on her blog titled Musings of a Virgin Whore announcing she would no longer push through with the auction despite the submission of an $801,000 bid disappeared for a few hours.

While IBT-AU managed to capture a screen shot of the blog post (see above), one reader wrote on Friday morning in the comment's section that the particular note was not on Raine's webpage.

At that time, Raine had already closed the Web site created in Australia for the auction, which was the confirmation that she had changed her mind about surrendering her virginity for money.

Did she suddenly realised she just threw a chance to have six digits in her bank account, part of which she would eventually donate to charity? Was her blog hacked by an angry and frustrated bidder?

By Friday afternoon, the May 8 post was back on Raine's blog, but there was no additional information why the post was temporarily removed or erased and later restored.

However, the blog had comments from followers who reacted to her surprise decision.

Capee was happy with Raine's turnaround and wrote, "Did you decided not for selling virginity? Thank and god bless you."

vombi was more straightforward and said "I can't believe all the comments of supper here. This is prostitution, plain and simple, to which Rob replied, "And if you read some of Liz's comments, she does call it prostitution as well. She has not tried to say differently."

Plexico, a frequent commenter, injecting humour, asked a few minutes after Wednesday midnight, "Times up! Do we have a wiener?"

In Twitter, elizabethany asked, "Think there's any chance I can convince the Internet I'm a virgin and auction my V-card? I'll buy us all a party mansion with the $801k."

Silky Johnson thought the future doctor just wanted some attention, while SoCal joked, "She accidentally lost it over the weekend ... for free!"

Despite Raine's decision, she continues to be a hot topic for discussion on social media sites that it would not be surprising if more memes would appear on the Internet and some enterprising people may even make souvenir items such as virginity dolls, pins and T-shirts, while auction houses could consider virginity biddings as part of their regular services.
