Virgin Australia and Delta Air Lines announced on Monday a code sharing agreement on trans-Pacific flights beginning Nov. 6, 2011.

Under the deal, Delta will include its airline code on Virgin's long-haul trips to Los Angeles from Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. In turn, Virgin Australia will place its code on the daily flights between Sydney and LA.

The code sharing agreement is the result of regulatory approval the two air carriers received from Australian and U.S. authorities to form a joint venture on their trans-Pacific trips.

With the code sharing, passengers will have a choice of three trips daily between Australia and the U.S. and Virgin Australia planes will arrive at Terminal Give for better onward connection with Delta's domestic trips.

The sale of tickets for the code sharing deal would start Sept. 19.
