Following the massive success of “Furious 7,” Vin Diesel is set to reprise his long-time role as Dominic Toretto in the eighth installment of the “Fast & Furious” movie series. The highly-anticipated come back of action franchise is set for April 14, 2017 premiere after Diesel revealed the date during the studio’s CinemaCon presentation.

"We're going to make the best movie you've ever seen," the actor said when announcing the release date,” said the 47-year-old actor, filmmaker and producer after announcing the release date. "The last time I was on this stage I was with my brother Pablo. It’s hard for me to even watch that clip and then come out here without being emotional."

The father of three was a little bit emotional when speaking about his brother and co-star Paul Walker, who died in a tragic car accident before “Furious 7” was completed. But despite the actor’s passing, the movie managed redevelop Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner, by using actors with bodies similar to the late actor’s physique and his voice and face were computer-generated.

Two of Walker’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, where chosen as stand-ins to recreate the actor’s appearance.

The announcement is no surprise after “Furious 7” made more than $1.1 billion worldwide and has broken box office records as it claimed the seventh spot of the highest-grossing movie of all time. The movie is becoming the fastest movie to hit $1 billion in Hollywood history which made the studio shift into high gears for the movie’s eighth installment.

The action franchise currently holds the distinction of being the “most successful live-action movie franchise of all time based on an original concept,” according to Digital Trends. The action series has earned a whopping $3 billion worldwide so far.

Based on the news, Universal plans to three “Fast & Furious” movies back in November, including potential spin-off projects that aims to focus on individual characters. There’s no confirmation yet if director James Wan is going to reprise his role.

“Furious 7” also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jason Statham, Djimon Hounsou and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Diesel was also joined by new comers Tony Jaa, Ronda Rousey and Kurt Russell.
