Bill Murray will star as a singer who has a cabaret act at the Carlyle Hotel in New York on Christmas Eve that will be jeopardized when the biggest blizzard hits the city.

The singer decides to make the best out of the situation by enlisting his partner pianist, Paul Shaffer, as well as several others, namely Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Michael Cera, Chris Rock, Jason Schwartzman, Maya Rudolph, David Johansen, Jenny Lewis and the band Phoenix. Various guests and staff are also on hand to make the moment as enjoyable as possible despite the odds. George Clooney and Miley Cyrus are also in a soundstage in Queens, waiting for Bill Murray, writes the New York Times.

The Christmas special was directed by Sofia Coppola and co-written by Mitch Hurwitz. IndieWire reports that “A Very Murray Christmas” will only be a single episode, although it lasts 40 minutes. The show will feature a wide array of musical numbers by popular artists today and from several years ago. IndieWire also writes that the story is not really much but everything is still expected to be magical, because of the presence of Bill Murray.

Murray’s popularity has made thousands of fans excited for the Christmas special. The actor has starred in numerous comedies and is also notorious for crashing wedding receptions and karaoke events. The show will be funny, but not overly aggressive. It actually has a relaxed tone that will provide a nostalgic feeling among fans who are fond of Christmas tunes. Murray will be shown trying to look for more than the usual celebrations that famous people like him bear each year. He finally lands an intimate dinner with the hotel staff and a few patrons.

“A Very Murray Christmas” will bring a show that will also attempt to share that there is no line between Hollywood stars and the ordinary person. The special will also provide more insight on what Murray’s life is like.

“A Very Murray Christmas” will premiere on Dec. 4 on Netflix. More updates and details are expected to come out soon.
