Actors Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley excitedly talked about some "double trouble" for the upcoming The Vampire Diaries Season 5 during an interview at the 2013 San Diego Comic Con. Paul Wesley, who portrays Stefan Salvatore, revealed his readiness for a completely different character when the CW TV series returns on the small screen on October 10.

"I was very excited because I get to play two characters, so I get to go darker and do something completely different than what I've been doing for four years," Wesley stated when asked about the interesting storyline about doppelgangers.

The 31-year-old actor is currently pleased with his character's new direction. However, Paul confessed about being a little bit worried about how the devoted Vampire Diaries fans would respond about it.

"I was a little concerned that the fans would sort of think, 'Oh, we've already seen this before'," Paul stated. The actor was obviously referring to co-star Nina Dobrev's dual characters of Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce.

"Fortunately, it was such a positive reaction. Everybody was so excited," Paul further declared with co-star Ian Somerhalder commented: "Because everybody was so bored with Stefan, because they're ecstatic now."

"I think I was the #1 on that list. I'm Silas' super fan," Wesley confirmed at the interview and then Ian quipped: "He's actually become his own super-fan." Paul Wesley's dark character in the upcoming season is expected to be an interesting interaction between the two Vampire Diaries stars that portrays vampire brothers on the successful TV series.

Heartthrob actor Ian Somerhalder shared that the upcoming episodes will be very cool due to its different storyline. "Before, it was just Damon and his brother and now it's this guy who can kick his ass and read his mind," Ian declared.

The Vampire Diaries cast members are currently working hard for the TV series' new season after enjoying a well-deserved break. Ian Somerhalder still managed to squeeze in some of his work time to appear for the Harper's Bazaar Russia photo shoot and the images recently surfaced on social media sites like Twitter.

Aside from the photo shoot, the 34-year-old actor also made guest appearances during his trip to Moscow. Ian has lead his convention called Eco-Con and showed up at the Russian late night talk TV show "The Ivan Urgant Show."
