At the 2013 Comic Con, the excited and screaming fans were given a preview of what to expect on the fifth season of the Vampire Diaries. Cast members Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev with co-stars Paul Wesley, Kat Graham and Candice Accola sat down on a Q&A panel to thrill the fans with some details about the successful CW TV series.

Changes are about to happen on the upcoming season of the Vampire Diaries. In the video preview shown before the panel discussion, villain Silas can be seen addressing a group of the Mystic Falls townsfolk as Paul Wesley's character Stefan Salvatore about his desire to control them.

The senior characters will be entering college life and character Katherine turns into human. According to the Hypable report, Katherine will not be pleased with her shift into a human being again after 500 years making her bad-tempered because she has no power in forcing people to do the things that she wants.

In a separate interview with EntertainmentWeekly, actress Nina Dobrev squeezed herself in between co-stars Ian Somerhalder and Paus Wesley as she talked about her character. "It's been a fun summer for Elena and Damon. Elena's going to college now, so they're going to try to make the long distance thing work," Nina shared about what's next in Season 5.

Additionally, executive producers Julie Plec and Caroline Dries revealed that Season 5 will deal with the consequences of Nina Dobrev's character, Elena, choosing vampire Damon Salvatore portrayed by Ian Somerhalder. "One of the things we will try to do is to try to keep Delena happy for a while in the midst of the bad things around them that are trying to tear them apart," Julie Plec shared about the on-screen couple.

"It is Mystic Falls and essentially you can't be that happy for that long, so there's always got to be that drama," Ian stated. The heartthrob actor further stated that the audience will find Damon and Elena's interaction "really cute" in the upcoming episodes.
