Apparently, "Vampire Diaries" fans just can't get enough of on screen and off screen lovers, Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev that they want this couple to star in a racy film adaptation. Fans of "Fifty Shades" agree that the "Delena" duo is perfect to play the lead roles in E.L. James best-selling erotica novels. Should Nina and Ian play Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey respectively?

Ian Somerhalder continues to be a fan favourite for the casting of Christian Grey. Somerhalder's on screen and off screen love interest in "The Vampire Diaries", Nina Dobrev, has also been nominated in various web polls to play opposite Ian as Anastasia Steele. Like Ian, Nina expressed interest in starring in the BDSM-themed film.

"I depends on the script, always. If it's a good script, and a great director, then who knows," explained Dobrev in an interview with Wet Paint last year.

However, some "Fifty Shades" fans agree that the "Nian" couple starring in the film adaptation would most likely appear as a crossover between "Vampire Diaries" and "Fifty Shades of Grey." Dobrev also thinks having both of them cast in the film would be a bad idea.

"I don't know if that's a good idea. I think it's best for any of the actors on Vampire Diaries to kind of do their own things ... and create new characters. And as much as you try when you shoot a movie, if it's two of the same people, the fans will always see you as ... they'll see you as Elena and they'll see him as Damon if we do the film together," explained Nina to The Celebrity Café.

Given Nina's statements, some fans have paired off Ian Somerhalder with Lucy Hale instead. Yet, sources claim that Nina Dobrev is none too happy about it. Still, this is not stopping fans from continuously pairing the Salvatore brother with the star from "Pretty Little Liars."

If Dobrev wants all the pairings to stop, then Nina should agree to taking on the role of Anastasia Steele. With their intense chemistry on and off screen, creating the raunchy scenes for the movie would definitely be easy for Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder.
