It has been previously reported that only two of the three major cast members of the CW TV series "The Vampire Diaries" have signed on for a seventh season. Executive producer Julie Plec recently weighed in on the burning question of whether the TV series could carry on without Nina Dobrev as Elena, Paul Wesley as Stefan or Ian Somerhalder as Damon.

"Just the thought of it actually hurts me a little," Julie Plec admitted in an exclusive E!Online TV Scoop report. The entertainment Web site's report back in August confirmed that the three major cast members have been in talks with Warner Bros. studio.

However, several unnamed sources revealed that there is one cast member who is still unsure if he or she wants to be a part of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7. Furthermore, the CW Network reportedly considers picking up the supernatural TV series without its three main stars and start focusing on the other characters of the show.

At the 2014 Comic Con, Julie Plec revealed in an interview that there is a possibility for the CW TV series to carry on as long as the actors want "The Vampire Diaries" to go on. The series creator further confirmed that everyone is still under contract and the team behind the TV series has plans for season 7.

"I know that our bosses have plans for seasons eight, nine, and 10," Plec added. She further assured the millions of TVD fans that she will continue to be a part of the TV series as long as she can keep on telling good stories and the people she works with, both cast and crew members, are still dedicated and committed.

"So far so good, you know. We'll see how long we can stay, doing it well. We'll make sure that we don't start sucking," the executive producer declared. "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 currently airs on Thursday nights, 8 p.m. ET on the CW Network.

The Mystic Falls gang will return on Oct. 30 with episode 5 titled "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here" where the Whitmore Homecoming Corn Maze party will bring a night of blood and terror.
