Reigning US Open champion Flavia Pennetta and fiancé Fabio Fognini are reportedly going to tie the knot in June 2016. The new report came following Pennetta’s announcement that she was retiring from tennis.

Sources close to the situation revealed to Tennis World USA that Pennetta and Fognini, who got engaged in February 2014, already got their hearts set on a wedding venue and reception. The matrimonial ceremony will reportedly be held at Pennetta’s hometown in Brindisi with the reception following at Borgo Egnazia Fasano. However, no confirmation from both camps has been issued yet.

Since their engagement, Pennetta and Fognini have been sporadically seen in each other’s player’s boxes. ESPN reported that Fognini was supposed to be en route to Siberia for Italy’s Davis Cup tie against Russia, but made the flight back to New York as soon as he learned that Pennetta will be making a trip to the final.

Pennetta upset World No. 2 Simona Halep 6-1 6-3 to secure a final berth, where she faced Vinci, who dismissed Serena Williams 2-6 6-4 6-4 in other semifinal match. Fognini wanted to make sure that he will be there to support her fiancée as she dispatched Vinci in the final to win her first-ever grand slam title. Pennetta made history after claiming the US Open trophy, making her the oldest woman at 33 to win a grand slam title. She also became the first female tennis player from Italy to win in a grand slam tournament.

Fognini is fellow pro tennis player. He beat Rafael Nadal in the third round of the recently-concluded US Open 3-6 4-6 6-4 6-3 6-4. Fognini’s US Open campaign ended after losing to Feliciano Lopez 6-3 7-6(5) 6-1 in his next match. Fognini achieved his career-high singles rank as World No. 13 in March 2014.
