Google could again team up with Huawei to refresh the Nexus 7 tablet in 2016.

When it was launched in July 2012, the 7-inch tablet was manufactured by Asus. In no time, the tablet became one of the best sellers due to its remarkable specs and affordable price. Then in 2013, another Nexus 7 was released with some performance improvements.

Thus, it’s high time to revamp the tablet and Huawei will unveil the tablet’s new iteration at the Google I/O in mid-2016, according to the word on the Web. Moreover, the third generation of Nexus 7 tablet will be manufactured by Huawei, reports Tech Times.

Other reports, however, indicate the new generation Nexus 7 might again be made by Asus. Huawei Chairman and former CEO Jonney Shih hinted there are possibilities Asus will come up with the next iteration of the 2013 Nexus 7, said Trusted Reviews. He also mentioned the world should “stay tuned” to the latest developments as it takes “a lot of discussion” to make a decision.

Google wants to re-enter the tablet market in 2016,according to GforGames. The report also mentions that after the success of Nexus 6P made by Huawei, Google seemed to be very interested in collaborating with the company again for Nexus 7 (2016). Nexus 7 is considered one of the best tablets in the budget segment launched by Google.

Google discontinued the Asus-made Nexus 7 in 2014 after it launched Nexus 9 made by HTC. Unlike the Nexus 7, the Nexus 9 was placed in the premium segment. In 2015, Google revealed Pixel C, a non-Nexus Android tablet expected to be launched in select markets by the end of this year.
