The Huawei Nexus 6P and the Apple iPhone 6s Plus were launched last September and both are now available for sale worldwide.

Similar to the Nexus 6P, Apple’s iPhone 6s Plus carries the same design but with some changes to hardware. The iPhone 6s come in a new Rose Gold colour option and also has 3D Touch. The device also sports a powerful 12 megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization and 4K recording.

Design and build

Unlike other smartphones, the Huawei Nexus 6P has a very new and unique design with a slightly bulged camera and a plate of black glass at the back. The entire device is made from aluminium. From the front, Huawei’ Nexus looks like any other smartphone with a large display. Its edges are soft and it feels great to hold.

On the other hand, the iPhone 6s Plus inherited the same design as the iPhone 6 Plus. This time, however, Apple made the iPhone 6s Plus using a stronger type of aluminium, which means there’s no more bend-gate. The new aluminium build also gives a great grip.

Display

In terms of display, the iPhone 6s Plus inherited the same old display that has been availableon the iPhone 6 Plus. It sports a 5.5 inch 1920 x 1080 IPS LCD display. The display produces enough brightness for outdoor viewing and also includes 3D Touch, which allows users pressure enabled actions.

On the Nexus 6P, a 5.7-inch WQHD 2,560 x 1,440 AMOLED display produces blacks and colours more vivid than on the iPhone 6s Plus.

Specifications

Huawei’ Nexus 6P is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor v2.1 coupled with 3 GB of RAM. For graphics, the Adreno 430 GPU is included. Along with that, storage options like 32 GB, 64 GB or 128GB are available. As for audio, the two front-facing speakers are formidable. The Nexus 6P also features a fingerprint sensor at the back that also doubles as a button.

When it comes to specs, the iPhone 6s Plus isn’t as powerful as the Nexus 6P, but there’s the M9 motion coprocessor that facilitates other less intrusive tasks and saves battery power. The iPhone 6s Plus comes with the 64-bit A9 processor and 2 GB of RAM.

Users will get other new features such as bottom-facing speakers, a Taptic Engine and a fingerprint sensor that doubles as the Home button. It comes in 16 GB, 64 GB or 128GB storage options.

Software and Performance

Nexus 6P runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and delivers smooth and fast performance. Google Now on Tap is more precise and quicker than Siri. The iPhone 6s Plus runs on iOS 9 and is certainly easier to use than Android. In spite of having 2 GB of RAM, the 6s Plus performs better than the Nexus 6P. The iOS doesn’t require as much RAM and processing power as Android for it to run smoothly.

Battery life

The Nexus 6P is packed with a 3450 mAh battery that enables fast-charging. It also features Android 6.0’s Doze mode along with a battery saver. The battery on the iPhone 6s Plus is smaller than the one in iPhone 6 Plus and is rated at just 2,750 mAh. Both devices’ battery power lasts for an entire day.

Pricing

The iPhone 6s Plus costs the same as other Apple products. It starts from $750 for the 16 GB version and for the 128 GB version it’s priced $950. The Nexus 6P is priced at $500 and $650 for the 128 GB version.

It’s hard to decide which device is better. Customers that can't afford to buy the iPhone 6s Plus can opt for the Nexus 6P as the latter has features similar to that of the iPhone 6s Plus. The big difference lies in the operating system and both companies can roll-out the latest versions of their OS'. So, customers opting for any or both of these devices can’t go wrong.
