Vancouver has gotten crazy about 'Ugly Christmas Sweaters' and the retailers of the products love them.

Both the young and the old seem to be fascinated by the apparel and prefer sporting them during the holidays. Yahoo News Canada reported that "F" as in Frank, which is a trendy clothing store in East Vancouver, has been facing a huge demand of the ugly Christmas sweaters. Store Co-owner Drew Heifetz said that everyone was apparently in love with ugly Christmas sweater parties. That is why there is a increasing demand of such sweaters as everyone needs one to go to a party.

Heifetz added people are not happy buying one sweater. They are buying 10 pieces for the entire family.

"They are also buying it for people in their office," he informed.

Heifetz seemed quite happy that the popularity of such products keeps growing as the Christmas approaches. The numbers definitely show that he should be happy as his two stores, in Toronto and East Vancouver, sell around 30,000 sweaters every year.

Lily Ratelle of Value Village agreed with Heifetz on the popularity of ugly Christmas sweaters. She said the only thing they kept on hearing from customers was that they had ugly Christmas sweaters. Tyler Schwartz of RetroFestive.ca also affirmed that everyone is in need of ugly Christmas sweaters. RetroFestive, which is based in Oakville, expects selling more than 5,000 ugly Christmas sweaters, excluding garlands, banners and prizes.

There was a time when ugly Christmas sweaters were considered as a fashion faux-pas as those were primarily only used by middle-aged mothers. Schwartz said people did take the sweaters seriously 20 years back. However, it was only in the past 5 years or so that the trend became extremely popular mainly because of the theme parties where people are supposed to compete against each other for the ugliest costume.

Whatever it is, the coins are ringing for the retailers as people prefer looking ugly this Christmas.
