Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino has confirmed the first step towards setting up a mega-fight with UFC women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey. Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp revealed at the Invicta FC 14 post-fight press conference that Justino will compete at a 140 catch-weight, just five pounds away from Rousey’s bantamweight division.

According to Yahoo Sports, Knapp confirmed that Justino will fight at 140 pounds in November against an unconfirmed opponent. It will be Justino’s lowest weight, drawing her close to the long-awaited fight against “the most dangerous woman in the planet.”

However, MMA News suggested that if Justino wins at 140, there would still be a possibility that UFC will force her for a 135-pound fight at Invicta before facing “Rowdy.” Justino guaranteed earlier this year that she can go down at 135, only if UFC books the fight against Rousey in December.

Rousey, who has an undefeated record of 12-0, has confessed earlier this month she wants to fight Justino, but it would only happen if the Brazilian fighter is willing to drop at 135, a weight Cyborg has never fought before.

“The thing is, someone who uses steroids and those kind of things, they need that to mentally think they have an advantage they didn’t earn,” Rousey said. “If you can make weight and be on steroids, even if it’s making weight or a relatedly making weight-friendly steroid, you’re still, without it you’re capable of moving down.”

With Justino set to compete at 140, the super-fight between two of the most dominant female fighters in the world could happen anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Rousey is set to defend her title against No. 1 contender Holly Holm at UFC 193 on Nov. 15 in Melbourne at Etihad Stadium. Holm, who also has an unblemished record of 9-0, claimed her title shot at Rousey was a blessing in disguise.

"I didn't think it was going to come this soon, but as soon as it did I was excited,” Holm said, reports MMA Mania. “I do envision myself getting my hand raised, because that is the goal."
