The International Boxing Federation has ordered new WBO, WBA, IBF heavyweight champion Tyson Fury to start negotiations with no. 1 contender, Vyacheslav “Czar” Glazkov.

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated confirmed on Twitter that Fury is set to begin a deal to fight Glazkov, and both sides “have 30 days, or purse bid.”

Glazkov (21-0-1, 13 KOs) is a mandatory challenge for Klitschko, but with Fury ending the latter’s title reign, “Czar” becomes the top contender for the Irish boxer. The 31-year-old Ukrainian was also in the mix of fighting heavyweight titlist Deontay Wilder, who is scheduled to defend his title in January next year.

Meanwhile, Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) ended the reign of long-time heavyweight titleholder Wladimir Klitschko during the weekend via 12-round unanimous decision in Dusseldorf’s ESPRIT Arena. The Irish boxer is now a target of many heavyweight fighters, but according to Steve Bunce of the Independent, there are only few who are qualified to fight Fury for his title belts.

“There is a long list of men with mixed credentials hovering right now,” Bunce wrote. “However, there is not one legitimate contender to the three belts Fury won on Saturday in Düsseldorf.”

A rematch with Klitschko is the more realistic option, with the Ukrainian veteran insisting that “there will definitely be a rematch,” reports Sky Sports. However, Fury’s manager and promoter Mike Hennessy thinks Klitschko is unsure about going into a rematch with the new champ.

“I've had no contact with them [Klitschko's team] since the fight but they've got a window to decide whether they want to step up or down," Hennessy told ESPN. "I think Wladimir is really in two minds about the rematch because he looked really busted up to me at the press conference after.”
