Recent final ratings report did not change anything for both The CW’s “Reign” and “The Vampire Diaries.” Early this year, “The Vampire Diaries” closed its midseason series with a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating, down 22 percent from a 0.9. Still on The CW, Reign garnered a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating, down 20 percent from a 0.5 for its midseason finale, according to TV by the Numbers’ report.

The most recent update however reveals that “The Vampire Diaries” drew a series was only able to collect a low audience of 1.41 million. CBS’ long -running show “Two and a Half Men” still did not surpass viewership ratings for “Reign.”

Headline Planet recently broke the report stating that per fast national data, Thursday’s “Reign” repeated last week’s 0.4 adults 18-49 rating and 1.03 million viewership average. The day’s final ratings report might bring a slight downward adjustment for “Reign,” but it will not bring the news that the series completely tanked in this week’s competitive 9PM hour.

“The Vampire Diaries” also maintained its previous adults 18-49 rating (0.7). The popular show took a more significant hit in total viewership. Thursday’s edition of “The Vampire Diaries” drew 1.41 million viewers. If predicted correctly, Thursday’s episode will actually represent the lowest mark ever for a “TVD” episode, if they all continue to have the same ratings until the finale.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. It was notable that last season, “Arrow surpassed “The Vampire Diaries”, which launched way back in 2009, as the most-watched show on TV as reported on TV Series Finale. As for “Reign, as we know, historical dramas have had mixed success on television and it still continues to maintain its pace.
