Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts will face Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell in the final of the Volvo World Match Play Championship.

McDowell saw off the challenge of local hope Rafael-Cabrera Bello at Finca Cortesin, winning by 2 holes, while Colsaerts came back from four down to beat Scot Paul Lawrie on the 20th hole in the other semi-final.

Lawrie, playing in his 500th European Tour event, won the first four holes against the Belgian and seemed in total control, but after losing the eighth and ninth and 13th and 14th, he suddenly found himself all square once again. When he won the 16th it seemed as if he would still get the job done, but Colsaerts took the 18th with a birdie four and managed to get up and down on the second sudden death hole to take the match.

McDowell won three of the first four against Spaniard Rafael Cabrera-Bello, but he was made to work for his win and only managed to seal the deal on the 18th when the Spaniard bogeyed the par five.

"I just need my putting boots on," said McDowell after the match.

"I've simply not putted well enough. I didn't want to see the 18th again, but I did."

The two semi-finals were delayed for about an hour on the back nine due to a threat of lighting.
