Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar will consider leaving Aston Villa this offseason, as numerous clubs, including perceived frontrunners Tottenham, have been impressed with his performance in the World Cup.

The Dutch international was the rock of Louis van Gaal's defensive line, successfully shutting own the opposition's attackers, which led to four clean sheets and only four conceded goal, en route to his national side's third-place finish.

"I still have one year left and I understand Aston Villa absolutely don't want to let me go," the 29-year-old centre-back told Dutch source Helden.

"In the previous weeks I haven't even thought about a possible transfer. The only thing I did was enjoying my holiday and didn't think about football."

"Soon I will meet my agent and discuss the various options.

"At the moment I am having a holiday and visiting my parents. I am enjoying my time with family and my two sons."
