Tom Cruise has two upcoming movies from Universal Pictures. Fans and moviegoers will see "The Mummy" on June 9 and the "American Made" on Sept. 29. "The Mummy" is a reboot of "The Mummy" franchise and a possible instalment of the Universal Monsters shared universe. American Made" is a criminal drama-thriller film previously known as "Mena."

'The Mummy'

"The Mummy" is about the awakening of an ancient Princess Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella) in the contemporary world. The princess' destiny is believed to be unjustly taken from her, leading her to be mummified in an ancient tomb buried deep in the desert a thousand years ago. She brought with her a vengeful grudge and terrors to humanity.

In the film's official trailer, the lead star Tom Cruise (Nick Morton) and Annabelle Wallis (Jenny Halsey) are inside a military cargo plane carrying the sarcophagus or the stone coffin of Princess Ahmanet. The plane is attacked by a swarm of birds causing the plane to crash. Morton wakes up within a body bag as Russell Crowe's (Dr Henry Jekyll) voice over says, “Welcome to a new world of gods and monsters.”

Crowe's character Jekyll further tells Morton, "Please meet Princess Ahmanet. She will claim what she has been denied." As the trailer continues, Princess Ahmanet is seen to spread terrors in the city of London.

"The Mummy" cast also includes Courtney B Vance (Colonel Gideon Forster), Jake Johnson (Sgt Vail), Chasty Ballesteros (Kira Lee), Javier Botet (Set), Marwan Kenzari (Alaa Safi) and Sickle Slave (Amir El-Masry).

The Tom Cruise movie will be released on June 9 in the United States, Australia, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Spain, United Kingdom, Ireland, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and Turkey. On June 7, it will be shown in France and the Philippines. On June 8, the film will screen in cinemas in Argentina, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Chile, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, Taiwan and Ukraine.

The film was directed by Alex Kurtzman, and written by Jon Spaihts and Christopher McQuarrie. Sean Daniel, Alex Kurtzman, Chris Morgan and Roberto Orci were the producers. Brian Tyler and Ben Seresin were in charge of music and cinematography, respectively. K/O Paper Products and Sean Daniel Company were behind the production.

'American Made'

"American Made" tells the true story of Trans World Airlines (TWA) pilot Barry Seal played by Tom Cruise. Seal was recruited by the CIA to help oppose the emerging communist threat in Central America but his role made him involved with the Medellin cartel. This embarrassed the Reagan White House after the Iran-Contra scandal became public.

The film is originally set to be released on Jan. 6 but has been changed to Sept. 29 with the new title. The cast includes Tom Cruise (Barry Seal), Sarah Wright (Lucy Seal), Domhnall Gleeson (Monty Schafer), Jayma Mays (Dana Sibota), Jesse Plemons (Sheriff Downing), Lola Kirke (Judy Downing), Lara Grice (Female Reporter), Frank Licari (ATF Special Agent Franks), Alex Quarles (Seal's couple son), Jed Rees (Louis Finkle), Caleb Landry Jones (Bubba) and Connor Trinneer (George Bush).

The drama-thriller "The American Made" was directed by Doug Liman and produced by Doug Davison, Brandt Andersen, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Brian Oliver and Tyler Thompson. Gary Spinelli wrote the screenplay while Christophe Beck wrote the music. Imagine Entertainment, Cross Creek Pictures, Quadrant Pictures, Vendian Entertainment and Kylin Pictures were behind the film.
