Three new characters to join roster of “Pokken Tournament”
Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U fighting game, “Pokken Tournament,” is looking to shed a new light on the “Pokemon” franchise with a game that is very different from what the company used to offer. Just like the “Tekken” franchise on which the game is inspired from, “Pokken Tournament” will sport an impressive roster, and it expanded recently with the addition of several series favourites.
There will be a total of three characters coming to “Pokken Tournament.” The characters were leaked from a Japanese monthly magazine, CoroCoro Comic, reports Gamespot. The actual reveal was intended to be sometime on Jan. 15, but fans got an early glimpse on the new characters.
The three new fighters in “Pokken Tournament” are Braixen, Garchomp and the widely popular MewTwo. The normal form of MewTwo will join Shadow MewTwo as a playable character when the game officially launches for the Wii U this March in Japan.
It also revealed that Garchomp will be a Power category Pokemon capable of using moves like Sand Tomb and Dragon Rush. The leaked images also show off Garchomp in his mega-evolution, Mega Garchomp. Meanwhile, Braixen focuses mainly on ranged attacks with its fire-based skills. However, not much is known about series favourite MewTwo as of the moment.
“Pokken Tournament” currently sports an impressive roster. The three new characters will join Charizard, Dark MewTwo, Suicine, Pikachu Libre, Pikachu, Weaville, Lucario, Gardevoir, Blaziken, Gengar, Sceptile and Machamp. For now, there are 15 characters confirmed for “Pokken Tournament,” and their details can be seen at Serebii.
In other news, game accessory HORI has revealed a special dedicated controller for “Pokken Tournament.” The controller is not necessary to play the game but it is geared toward make the game easier to control for the player. Aside from that, Nintendo previously confirmed that it will launch a special “Pokken Tournament” Wii U bundle for Japan.
