A Danish teenager got inspired by Islamic State militants and stabbed her mother to death. She has been sentenced nine years of imprisonment on Monday.

Lisa Borch was 15 in October 2014 when she killed her mother after having been inspired by ISIS propaganda and its beheading videos. It was revealed during the trial that Borch’s radicalisation had been majorly influenced by online extremist propaganda. She watched a lot of beheading videos the night she stabbed her mother, Tine Rømer Holtegaard, at least 20 times.

Borch was assisted by Bakhtiar Mohammed Abdullah, her 29-year-old boyfriend. According to prosecutors, Abdullah and Borch decided to stab Holtegaard to death. However, in court, the couple blamed each other for the act.

The court heard Borch had been radicalised by an unnamed man whom she had relation with. The man broke up with her and returned to Sweden. Borch met Abdullah at a refuge centre after the break up.

It was Borch’s stepfather who initiated to reveal the teenage girl’s obsession with the militant group. “She loves to talk about IS and their brutal behaviour in the Middle East,” The Local quoted 58-year-old Jens Holtegaard as saying. “I don’t even dare to think about what might develop while she is serving time.”

It was Borch who called police to report the crime. “I heard my mother scream and I looked out the window and saw a white man running away,” The Telegraph quoted her statement to police. “Please come here, there is blood everywhere."

When the police arrived, they found Borch watching videos on her mobile phone. When the officers asked her where her mother was, she pointed upstairs without interrupting her video.
