Roger Federer believes world No. 1 Novak Djokovic could continue his wonderful season next year, but the Swiss Maestro admitted it would be a challenge for the Serb.

“Clearly he's going into next year with massive confidence,” Federer said, reports Tennis. "But right now you would think it is somewhat possible, but you can't just repeat a year like this. It's not as easy as it seems sometimes."

Federer, who lost in the final round of the ATP World Tour Finals against Djokovic, added that it would take a “lot of effort” to be in top shape mentally and physically. Federer should know about this as he has already been on top of the tennis world for a long-time, and even at this stage of his career, he is still playing good tennis against the young and talented players.

Federer went 3-5 in matches against Djokovic this year, levelling their FedEx Head2Head stats tied at 22-all. The 17-time Grand Slam winner won six titles this season, but failed to win any major compared to Djokovic’s 11 titles, which include three Grand Slams and six ATP 1000 Masters.

However, despite the shortcomings this year, especially at the US Open and the ATP World Tour Finals, Federer is looking forward to playing next year in a handful of major tournaments, including the Wimbledon and the Rio Olympics.

"Wimbledon is a big one,” Federer said, reports Super Sport. “Rio as well but it's not my number one priority. It starts with the Australian Open which is just around the corner.”

This year, Federer will join Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in Asia’s International Premier League, which kicks off next month. The tournament will be staged in Japan, Manila, Dubai, New Delhi, and Singapore.
