Reportedly, the exact release date of the predecessor “Surface Pro 3” was May 20, 2014. Needless to say, the same date is nearing close and therefore, the successor Surface Pro 4 is the talk of the town. Even though, Microsoft has not confirmed the Surface Pro 4 release date yet, several reports state that, the 2-in-1 tablet will be unveiled at a special event scheduled in May.

According to Slash Gear, the sudden burst of countless leaked specifications and features towards the end of April indicated that, the Surface Pro 4 will be announced at the Microsoft BUILD 2015 conference. However, the tech giant did not give away any information on the upcoming tablet. But now, an anonymous source apparently told Slash Gear that, the tablet will be released in the mid of May 2015.

As far as the key Surface Pro 4 specifications go, Slash Gear says, the tablet will come with a 12.0-inch display bundled with 2,160 x 1,440 pixels screen resolution and this configuration is nothing but a replica of the predecessor Surface Pro 3. But then, under the hood, the upcoming device will reportedly be powered by a fifth-generation Intel (Broadwell) Core i-series SoC. The Pro 3, on the other hand, comes powered by a choice of Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors. Meanwhile, the MacBook 2015 is powered by an Intel Core M processor.

To top it off, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will apparently come with the following optional accessories: Type Cover 3 and third-generation Docking Station. In addition, the tablet is expected to flaunt a fanless design, however, it will apparently continue to feature the vent holes seen in previous generation models. Even though, there is no information available on the battery capacity, Slash Gear says, the battery housed in the Surface Pro 4 will likely be smaller than the one seen in the Surface Pro 3. Nevertheless, the tablet should be able to provide same level of battery life or longer. Plus, the Surface pen or stylus is expected to be advanced and will be designed by N-Trig. It is worth noting that, Microsoft recently purchased the Israel-based stylus and display interface manufacturing company N-Trig for a whopping $30 million, notes Computer World. Nonetheless, Microsoft has not confirmed the Surface Pro 4 specifications or release date thus far.
